It seems like ages ago, but it was just March when North Carolina dreamer folk / campfire pop trio The Pinkerton Raid released their single “Dream the Sun” — a cut from the group’s 2021 album The Highway Moves the World.

The Durham-based band followed that up with “Rebel Mama Blues” in October, and now they’ve come full circle with a music video for “Dream the Sun”. A simmering indie folk blaze that glows in the light of Sufjan Stevens, Darlingside, and Iron & Wine, it’s currently premiering worldwide via BTRtoday.

Charlie DeCarlo Debuts Globetrotting New Video on Americana Highways

Rising singer-songwriter Charlie DeCarlo has been gearing up for the release of his solo debut record Paper Birds, and it’s nearly time for it to see the light on December 24th.

Today, DeCarlo is sharing the music video for his latest single “Walkway” — premiering now at Americana Highways, and streaming below. A sunny folk pop daydream that shines bright like Dawes, Caamp, and Mt. Joy — it’s the final flight from the upcoming LP.

"‘Walkway’ is inspired by small towns, friendship, and adventure — so we tried to capture the same vibe with the video" says DeCarlo. “It's a collage of moments from a trip I took in Portugal that's filled with mountains, waterfalls, and wonderful memories."

In case you missed it, the album’s previous singles debuted courtesy of Far Out Magazine, The Spill Magazine, and The AU Review.

Stream Brother Oliver’s Bold New Record; Premiering at The Vinyl District

Psychedelic folk rockers Brother Oliver officially return on December 4th with the release of their new Command Shift EP.

Quit scrolling and get a sneak peek right now, debuting worldwide at The Vinyl District — where frontman Andrew Oliver sat down to discuss his personal journey in music and dive deeper into the songs.

Out on the South Carolina quartet’s in-house label, Forthright Records, the EP is riddled with their question-asking approach to lyricism and touches on issues both past and present — like the death of entertainment, social media discourse, and simply finding a way to get through it all.

The instrumentation has classic flashes of the band — electric mandolin power solos and catchy choruses — but also doesn’t lack musical depth and grit. What’s new is the synth work found on every track. The electronic elements play into the overall aesthetic of the release, tied together by its somewhat-cryptic artwork that is simply an image of a keyboard.

In case you missed it earlier this week, revisit the single premiere for “Who Shot The Music?” featured in Elmore Magazine.

Small Reactions Sign to Sofaburn Records, Share New Single "Police State"

Nerve pop quartet Small Reactions have hit plenty of milestones over the past decade, supporting Portugal. The Man, Mac Demarco, DIIV, and Titus Andronicus — on top of receiving praise from Huffington Post, Paste, and Red Bull.

Today, the Atlanta-based outfit has announced they’ve signed with Sofaburn Records for the release of the band’s 2021 album New Age Soul.

Now premiering at Glide Magazine, watch the music video for lead single “Police State” — an indie rock coup d'etat with a punch of jangle pop that salutes The Strokes, Deerhunter, and Tokyo Police Club.

New Age Soul takes Small Reactions into uncharted waters, bringing out their finest moments yet. While the band’s initial M.O. was to subvert indie pop through a state of blissful repetition, they now paint with a more vibrant palette.

For the first time, Small Reactions’ songs breathe, they ride for a second longer, unencumbered as they move towards the light. Through a newfound clarity, the band’s instrumental interplay has been pushed to the top with brighter hues, thicker textures, and modern shapes. It’s easier to tell when lines dive behind corners and return to an altered state. The surprise left turns are still there — now all you have to do is keep up.

"I wrote ‘The Chase’ about a person who's lost in a world of uncertainty. The character reflects on the choices he made throughout his life and begins asking the existential question, "Is it all a give, or is it all a take?" This song is a piece to an overall story about two people falling in love in a changing world, and 'The Chase' is the point in which the relationship comes to an end."

Watch Charlie DeCarlo's New Music Video, Debuting Today via Far Out Magazine

Just in time for the summer sun, singer-songwriter Charlie DeCarlo is stepping out with a music video for “Hold Your Ground” — a radiant folk pop paradise that recalls Andrew Bird, Blitzen Trapper, and Sufjan Stevens.

Debuting today in Far Out Magazine, it’s the lead single from Paper Birds — the Buffalo-based musician's highflying debut album. Set to release this fall, the record shines with an undeniable sense of wonder and scenic exploration.

“I wrote ‘Hold Your Ground’ about a person who is cautiously optimistic about a new romantic relationship”, says DeCarlo. “I was really happy with how the music video for this song turned out. To me the concept of the paper bag represents someone who is afraid and maybe even ashamed to express their thoughts and emotions.”
