North Carolina duo RBTS WIN have announced their return today with news of the band’s forthcoming album, happy_sad.jpg, out later this year.
Take flight with lead single “Some Daze” — a chandelier of psychedelic pop and melodic hip-hop that shadows Chet Faker, alt-J, and Milky Chance. Premiering at Glide Magazine, it features a music video directed by the group’s own Javi Bolea (which you can check out below).
Comprised of Bolea and Cliff B. Worsham, RBTS WIN forge their own brand of cerebral pop music in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. Invoking the harmony and chaos of analog synthesizers and old-school samplers, the collective of sonic adepts have grown a cult following throughout the southeast.
As much as the Asheville-based musicians’ work eschews formula or convention, they frequently explore themes of love, spirit, and connection, along with references to the natural world. A mainstay at MoogFest over the years, the band has gained a reputation for cathartic live performances awash in voices, guitars, and drum machines — leading to direct support for Toro y Moi, RJD2, Mount Kimbie, and more.
